2012 Year in Review
Hey everyone! Thanks for finding my new blog. I want to share with you what an incredible year I’ve had. As many of you know I moved from Minnesota to Colorado early in April and although I miss the lakes I don’t miss the cold weather. That said, all of you Minnesotans are what made this possible, and I won’t leave you hanging. I make it a point to come back home often, and if any of you need me, it can surely be worked out!
This year has been such a wild ride. Bringing me all over the country from New York to Las Vegas. In this 2012 recap I think you’ll find there’s something for everyone! Looking back I even surprised myself at the wild variety of shoots I’ve found myself on. Get yourself ready, and bear with me while I give you a (rather lengthy) glimpse into 2012!
First off, I was lucky enough to join Dan Huiting and his crew in filming Other Lives for his series “City of Music”. Here are a few behind the scenes snaps.
Soon after that I had the pleasure of photographing engagement sessions for a bunch of friends of mine. Here are a few of my favorites.
My friends Culture Cry Wolf had a great year too! They played First Ave’s Mainroom and I was there to bear witness. I’m working on getting them out to Colorado for a show or two…
The very talented Ashley Gold and band had me shooting some promo shots for her. (Coincidentally enough, she was even singing at the wedding that brought me to New York (which you’ll see later!))
And one of my new favorite groups to come from a place that’s dear to my heart (Duluth, MN) Bigtree Bonsai. If you haven’t heard them yet, you will soon.
At various points throughout the year I’ve been shooting for a great group of guys at BluCore Shooting Center. This place is owned and operated by Navy Seals and other elite military veterans. The best-of-the-best kind… I’ve had a blast shooting their retail space, indoor range, and training sessions.
Before I came to Colorado my friend Matt Jennings and I cooked up something fun. With Tory Envy and Zeke Hall we shot this cover of Taylor Swift’s song ‘Safe and Sound’
Anybody that knows me knows that I’m absolutely infatuated with cars. Specifically old German cars, but I don’t discriminate. I spent a fair amount of time behind the lens with some beautiful machines.
Some of my favorites from this year’s wedding season. Including one of my best friend Jonny’s wedding in Keystone, Colorado, Mary and Nick’s wedding in Central Park NYC, and even some back home in Minnesota.
Figuring out the music scene, I was fortunate to work with the Flobots (out of Denver). An AWESOME group of people, incredibly genuine and couldn’t have been more welcoming. I caught them for their Halloween show (which was coincidentally back home in MN, while they had Astronautalis on the bill who I’m also a huge fan of) Some of them were dressed up for Halloween.
Well there you have it folks! That’s the bulk of my year (well the interesting bits at least). I’ve been doing more and more product photography, commercial headshots, and am venturing into some architectural and real estate work. I have to admit though, the thing I’m most excited for is that I’m going to be diving head first into a stylized sort of animal portraiture. Yes, you read it right. I’ve been talking about it for a long time, but it’s time to actually do it. I will be screening a select few ‘models’ to kick it off proper, so stay tuned and e-mail me if you think you have the perfect candidate! email@example.com
Thanks so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! I’ve put my heart into my work and it makes me happy that it makes you happy. As always my full website can be viewed HERE
